The ball rule
A ball that fits completely inside your dog’s mouth is too small. Small-dog balls are for genuinely small dogs only and are not for British Bulldogs, Australian Bulldogs or any dog that could swallow the ball.
Match the toy to the play
Fetch toys, tug toys, chew toys and plush comfort toys all do different jobs. Tug is owner-led play. Plush is for gentle dogs who carry and cuddle rather than pull toys apart.
Replace worn toys
No chew is indestructible. Remove rope toys when threads come loose, remove plush if stuffing or seams become exposed, and replace rubber toys when cuts or tears change their condition.
